ExploreFashions.com aims to be Atlanta's fashion networking site
According to Israel Jacobs, vice president of operations at Explorefashions.com, there are more than 200,000 people in Atlanta that consider themselves a part of the fashion industry. Many of the people who consider themselves fashion plates, are experienced in hair, make-up, design, modeling and more. Though Atlanta boast such a high number of fashionistas there is no network that brings them together; that is where Explorefashions.com picks up the pieces. On March 16 at 10pm, Explorefashions.com is teaming up with Lisa Hartwell, star of Real Housewives of Atlanta, to host Tongue n' Groove, a fashion event including industry people and celebrities. Explore fashions.com is a full service fashion media company that uses online social networking as its platform. The website features a magazine complete with celebrity profiles, write-ups on Atlanta fashion designers, and allows aspiring designers, models and artist to advertise in a unique way. "It is a lifestyle magazine. The base is personal ads." Jacobs said. "We're here for the community. It's like the apartment finder of fashion. We want to create content that makes people come everyday." For a small fee of $100. The publication allows people to have a full page layout, four photos, a fulll biography and contact info. "Alot of magazines won't let you put contact info in, but we do," Jacobs says. In addition to building an on-line fashion community Jacobs also has a reality show in the works titled Finding Fefe. The show follows Jacobs and his team as they search for Fefe, the spokesperson for Explorefashions.com. Jacobs is currently casting for the show is looking for the right woman to wear Fefe's fabulous shoes. "I want her to be a wild, eclectic, fashionable woman." Jacobs says. "She will represent the brand as the spokesperson for Explorefashions.com." Jacobs hopes the on-line community will be the go to site for those in the Atlanta fashion industry. He is also working with fashion schools in Atlanta to help showcase the unknown talent. "There are 21 fashion schools in the Atlanta area. What we will do is put on a fashion show at each school and pick the best designer out of all the schools. They will have a 150,000 budget to create their own line and will be named Explorefashions.com designer of the year." The site which is under the umbrella of New Fashion Company is managed by Voobon Ventures in Smyrna, Georgia. Jacobs, who has a degree in business and human studies, decided to start the site after he ended his career as a successful model. "Modeling makes you different. I got tired of having to fight for my career and to be in the industry." Fashion never left his blood and Jacobs decided to help others follow their fashion dreams. The company will be holding runway and make-up classes starting next fall.
